Did You Know?
As a home buyer, you have the right to choose your own real estate agent. That's right! You do not have to work with the agent that the seller has chosen. I recommend that buyers interview agents and choose someone whom you feel comfortable working with. Someone whom you feel understands your goals, your price range and your needs. You need an agent who will not only locate properties that meet your criteria, but who understands how to negotiate on your behalf, and who has the resources to carry you through financing, inspections and closing. It doesn't cost you anything more to hire your own agent than it does to work with the agent that the seller has hired as their representative. As a courtesy, sellers are normally willing to pay commisions to all agents that are involved in the transaction. This means that you have the freedom to choose an agent who will represent your best interests without adding additional cost to your new home purchase.
This is one of the biggest purchases you will likely make. It makes sense to interview agents and find the right person, a person that is working for you on your home purchase. There is just too much at stake to allow the seller to make that decision for you.
